The Incredible Beauty of Borghese Gallery
To visit the house of Bernini and Caravaggio is like a journey through art, all of your senses will be involved.
Still today, the art collection of the mighty Borghese Family is inside their Villa that was intended to be a museum. Moving from one room to the other you literally float in beauty: ceiling, floors and walls are full of marbles, frames and ornaments. Works of art among the finest ever conceived and realized. Gian Lorenzo Bernini masterpieces will show us Baroque sculpture’s passion while Canova will introduce us to the elegance of the Neoclassical ones, and more sculptures and ancient mosaics. The Gallery houses some of Caravaggio’s paintings – a painter who revolutionizes art between the end of 1500s and 1600s – that will strike you for their modernity and their powerful chiaroscuro. In the Pinacotheca Raffaello, Correggio, Tiziano, Domenichino, Barrocci and many other masters of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries paintings will unfold seamlessly in front of us. A unique experience

Gina and Rob DCWe had two tours with Romebylocals. Both were extraordinary. We did a tour of the Vatican with the Sistine Chapel (Alessandra) and a tour of the Borghese Gallery and Museum (Chiara). Both guides were very informative and well prepared for questions. They each had additional background information – both text and pictures. I had some physical limitations and both were very helpful and compassionate. A private tour is definitely the way to go. It was geared to our specific interests and at a pace that worked for us. Emanuele runs a thoroughly professional tour group – detailed information, transportation if needed, great communication and just a generally, kind person. He went out of his way to solve my transportation issues, and was cheerful. I can’t wait to go to Rome again and Romebylocals will be the one I call.
