Castelli Romani
In the surroundings of Rome the country side and its small villages, traditions, wine and food. This area known as Castelli Romani deserves to be visited.
Traditionally, the sweet roman countryside has been sung by poets and writers and loved by roman of every epoch for its freshness, and beauty. Lined small villages perched on the soft hills surrounding Rome – that’s the reason of its name “Castles” – full of surprises and from where you can enjoy enchanting views. This tour includes Albano where you can visit the famous Cisternoni, an ancient and underground tank used to collect water. The only ancient tank still perfectly functioning, unique in the world! And Albano’s Lake, of volcanic origin, that with its deep blue water enhances even more the green hills around it. Ariccia, destination of all foodie in the surroundings, where, once tickled the appetite, you can see the baroque Santa Maria Assunta Church by Bernini and Palazzo Chigi. Following, Nemi’s Lake very small but picturesque. Frascati, so beautiful and full of sixteenth and seventeenth centuries roman families’ Villas. Castel Gandolfo, Italian cultural pride, chosen as Pope’s summer estate to rest from their governance efforts and leave the heat of Rome. Last but not least, don’t forget that the area is famous for its traditional cuisine, simple and tasty, and to be the production site of famous wines.

We requested 3 tours for our family of 7. We specifically wanted something that was intimate and designed for just us- to have a personal experience where we would be submerged in the Roman culture and history, while at the same time having an open dialogue with the tour person. All our tours were amazing and the experience was top notch. I feel that we learned so much more having these personal tours than we would have using a large group tour company. One member of our family had some limited physical abilities and both tour guides were very accommodating. The experience will never be forgotten! Emanuele was extremely easy to work with on our bookings. He was very responsive, professional and just downright a joy to work with all around! RomeByLocals exceeded all expectations!William F.
