Caravaggio’s Genius
Following the footsteps paintings of Caravaggio to the Santa Maria del Popolo Curch, Sant’Agostino Curch and San Luigi dei Francesi Curch.
Michelangelo Merisi better known as Caravaggio was from the northern of Italy but it was in Rome that his genius exploded and revolutionized world painting. He lived here for few years between the late 1500s and the early 1600s. We can suppose those were the happiest years of his short and hard life. His paintings caused astonishment for their strong innovation and so much appreciation on one hand but sharp criticisms and animosity on the other! This itinerary takes you through the center of Rome to visit three different and wonderful churches where is possible to see Caravaggio’s masterpieces in their original place. You will admire his painting in a special way with its unbelievable state-of-the-art light and its incredible three-dimensional effects. The beauty of the details so lovingly cared by the artist cannot be given by any reproduction. While watching them do not forget that Caravaggio used to paint very quickly. It seems impossible, isn’t it?

We had 2 days of touring with RomeByLocals in May. It was outstanding in every way. Easy access to the sites and the tour guide was knowledgable and fun. I would highly recommend them for any excursion!Chris T.
