Ancient Rome and the St. Clemente Basilica with the Undergrounds
A full immersion to see the Ancient Rome above and under the present day town, discovering the St Clemente Basilica with the Undergrounds.
Together with the Colosseum and Palatine visit, right in the heart of ancient Rome, we will discover the San Clemente’s Basilica. This very ancient church – among the first built in Rome – preserves mosaics and Middle Age furniture among the most beautiful in Rome. Even more amazing are his dungeon! The church was built – twice – on top of some Roman buildings and the archeological digs, started only two hundred years ago, will allow us to penetrate underground and discover what is left of the old houses, to understand the complex variety of the town of Rome. Consequently we will have deeper understanding of the Colosseum archeological treasures, of its impressive beauty and structural modernity. The place loved above all others by the ancient, where they would encourage gladiators. Roman Forum beauty, whit its columns, triumphal arches, still standing buildings will lead us one step after the other in the Romans daily life and up to the Palatine hill, house of the Romans Emperors. Even nowadays, Rome seen from up here will live you breathless.

Our two tours booked through Emanuele were awesome. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable and pleasant. I would highly recommend Romebylocals to book your Italy fours. They were very responsive and the rest of the members of my family (all 13) agreed. Thank you for making our experience memorable. I will see you in 2 years

On our recent visit to Rome we rented an apartment near the Spanish Steps. The owner recommended using Romebylocals for any tours we might be interested in. We could not have been more pleased with Cristina and the professional services we received during our stay. The company was in constant contact with me prior to our arrival and during our stay. They accommodated our wishes and made adjustments to scheduling due to one person in our party departing at a different time than the rest. We never felt rushed on our tours and Cristina was very knowledgable and provided a fun and educational environment for everyone in our party. I would highly recommend using Romebylocals for any tours you may be interested in during a visit to Rome.
